This is 1 of several SK ratchets that I bought to replace my Craftsman. The 3 criteria that I worked with were: the quality of work angle and the prices. I know the reputation of SK Tools and I was not disappointed with the ratchet. The small working angle is exactly what I wanted and not have to spend a snap on prices was a plus.
I found this ratchet 4 / 5 stars because I want the reverse button was better ergonomics.
I have one (aged 15) Tom Thumb Pruner brand that has been done for True Value Hardware. True Value is now selling a different Punerea under this brand name ... not as good in my opinion. They no longer carry a spare blade pruner for older Tomb Thumb. After looking at several manufacturers of saw blades I found the Fiskars. This is an identical replacement for the thumb ... Old Tom even the same patent number. I ordered and I am happy with the product. No need to discard the oldaway now.
I bought a kit that included Zinsser freeze their disposal wallpaper (I did not need even that hot water and vinegar works well), a "Paper Tiger" scoring tool, paper and tool scraper. I prefer paper scraper on the Plain-handled scraper I use to narrow areas. I find I get less hand fatigue and focus less on the verge to avoid digging into the wall, as he always seems about to do with the regular scraper.
My only real complaint is that I need a new blade, and nobody seems to be local. A blade base that I found at The Home Depot crises, but it is really too small, and my work is almost at a standstill until I can find replacement blades fit. That's how I came across this review.
I never scraped wallpaper before, but have nine additional rooms to scratch in my old house fully carpeted. For the money, this tool is to try and buy extra blades as soon as you decide, like raclette paper and know that you need.
A carpenter can appreciate a tool that is designed this solid. It comes with the bells and whistles al rewind faster, stronger online quick withdrawal, etc. In the past I only used models Irwin who were either "simple stone-age" or worse, the new model is wrong designed (crashed after 3 days due to a design flaw)
Well done .. Like all Klein tools. I use it to measure around the high voltage connections. Dissapointing for a company that made his reputation making tools in the USA. Made in Sweden ... at least it is not made in China.
Planes are like musical instruments: you can not just pull them out of the box and play. In this spirit, I'll run across things I had to do for this plan to listen to and usable.
Grind sole Stanley left the soles and sides of the body of plane with rough machine marks. This is especially true, but not quite. I spent twenty minutes working the sole. Highlights got pretty smooth and has gone as far as I wanted to take it. You can grind all the way to a mirrorcomplete, but it will take much longer than I wanted to pass on this tool.
The heart of any plan is the blade. The steel one is on the thin side and somewhat rude. It was about twenty minutes to get the flat back. Then save a plain, coarsely ground bevel ...
I have big hands and the grip feel just a little small. The plastic handle and knob both have molding lines leading perfectly placed that authority blister. The two emerged and were easy to sandsmooth.
All together, it took about two hours, granite tile and a few sheets of sandpaper to go box chips first. Nothing spectacular, but it's a plane service and I am glad to have him in the shop. Recommended, just be prepared to spend some time cleaning up and making it yours.
The shears to cut a large - but they are enormous. I'm pretty sure an NBA player would have trouble opening the door to open with one hand. I have to use both hands when I need to open all the way for the closure of work on the pivot.
